The 2019 Grenache was sourced from a single unirrigated vineyard in the Swan Valley, Western Australia. The vineyard was planted in 1958 and the majestic vines are living treasures producing low yields. The vineyard is characterised by gravely loam soil and located at the base of the Darling Ranges. The months leading up to harvest were relatively dry with some storm events that provide mild relief to the parched soil. The fruit was handpicked and fermented in open fermenters naturally with no yeast or other additions. The wine spent several weeks on skins to extract flavour and texture. No oak or other additions were made. A small amount of SO2 was added before bottling.
